Our classes are designed to teach you the movements and concepts of west coast swing structured in a 3-part series of classes. Series 1 starts with the very basics for beginners or dancers who have been away from west coast swing for a while. Series 2 continues building upon the foundation of Series 1. Series 3 adds more advanced techniques. We also present a Specialty class that is open to dancers who are no longer beginners. Our instructors are happy to help you decide what series is best for your experience, so that you can get the most out of classes. The links on this page provide more details on each of the series, and will help you decide what might work best for you.
Series 1 is the place to start your west coast swing journey. We dance to a wide variety of music and have a lot of fun doing so!
During the four weeks of classes you will learn concepts and movements that serve as the foundation for west coast swing. These concepts are important to grasp and understand as you continue to learn and explore west coast swing.
We strongly suggest that new dancers go through Level 1 at least twice.
The series of classes repeats every month and you are welcome to join at any time.
Series 2 is where you start to build upon the good foundation you learned in Series 1. In Series 2 we will continue to reinforce concepts from Series 1, as well as introduce a new concept in new movements!
Series 2 is an 8 week series of classes divided into Part A and Part B. You may join the series at any point provided you have a strong understanding of the concepts and movements learned in Series 1.
If you do not know the concepts and movements in Series 1, we encourage you to learn them as a good foundation will lead to success in Series 2.
We strongly encourage all dancers go through Series 2 at least twice.
In Series 3 we will continue to reinforce concepts, as well as introduce new movements and variations of previously learned material, from Series 1 and 2!
Series 3 is a 12 week series of classes divided into Part A, Part B, and Part C. You may join the series at any point provided you have a strong understanding of the concepts and movements learned in Series 1 and Series 2.
If you are not sure how the concepts apply to each movement from Series 1 and Series 2, we encourage you to learn them prior to taking Series 3. A good foundation will lead to success in Series 3. Those that are attending Series 3 should be dancing west coast swing regularly and understand base concepts and movements naturally and instinctively.
The specialty class is designed for those dancers looking to add new dynamics to a strong understanding of the base movements of west coast swing. You will be challenged and pushed in this class.
Provided you believe you meet the suggested criteria, you are welcome to join this class at any time.
